Let me know if you need any other suggestions. Honestly, I thought Skype callers would be bad quality, but as long as they have a decent mic, the audio is fine. If you have a Mac, I HIGHLY suggest purchasing Loopback and Audio Hijack and going the same route. It enabled me to pipe in the intro music and any other audio I need into Skype so the guest(s) can hear it in studio quality AND it records at the same time in GarageBand. However, since I'm using a Mac, I bit the bullet and bought Loopback and Audio Hijack, which saved me hours of editing and aggravation. I was very reluctant to switch to Skype as the quality is easily recognized when listening to a podcast. I then switched to Ringr and, again, it gave me the same exact issue. I constantly found myself spending a little over an hour trying to make sure myself and each guest's audio track was in the appropriate spot. I started off using Zencastr and the mot frustrating part about recording through them is that the audio never syncs. I've been remote podcasting for a little over three years now, and for me and my set-up, Skype is by far the easiest. I there an hardware option which could be reliable with a good sound? Something where you aren't dependent on those online providers which aren't giving pleasing results. So is good quality and reliable remote podcasting in 2020 not really possible if your guests don't record on their own devices? Craig: I think here's no video option, too. Limited number of guests you can invite? Would be nice to get some insight of you here. Zoom: Also bad sound quality? Don't really know that much about Zoom.

Skype: Didn't use it because I just think that the quality is bad? Also no backups? Correct me if I'm wrong here. Medium option only contains 5 hours of recording per month which could be not enough in some months. When two or more people talk at the same time there are "glitches" where the sound "sizzles" if you know what I mean.

Good thing is that they have backups (but only mp3 and not in sync -> more work in post). Out of 6 conferences it didn't upload 2 audio tracks. Most of our guests just use their smartphones which often are iPhone's. Quality of the sound is also okay (wav-files).īUT it doesn't support iOS. Squadcast: Looks perfect at first sight. Out of ~10 sessions I lost 2 of them due to not uploading one of the audio tracks. Doesn't support video streaming to see your guests (which is important to me when you talk for an hour). Also because they are no technicians.įirst of all: Imo the quality of remote podcasting platforms isn't good. Guests are well known in the scene or country and it has to be as easy as possible for them. Quality wise that worked quite well.īut now we are inviting guests and we have to go with remote podcasting providers. Before we just were us two and recorded externally via audacity. Me and my co-host we recently started to do remote podcasting. Resources /r/podcasting Wiki Related Subreddits Questions? Posted something that's missing? Ask a mod.
